What is your opinion on illegal downloading?

I do the same as you mentioned. I download for free, and if I like it, I buy it. Some of the bands I listen to are always talking about wanting to put out a free album, and one of the bands' latest album leaked, and when asked about it they said they were annoyed because it wasn't finished yet, but they're glad people enjoyed it. I don't see the problem with it as long as people buy it if they do like the music. But as you said, I'd rather buy merchandise or see them on tour, since that's where most bands (particularly the ones who aren't hugely famous and constantly on the radio) make their money.
