How to write a funny bit in a sad/intesnse story?

Ooooo you should have a nurse and a doctor step into her room late at night to talk about their scheme to steal medical supplies and organs from the hospital because they think she can't hear them. Then have the rest of the story about her trying to wake up and stop them because in order to steal the supplies they have to cut the power and that would kill her and a whole bunch of other patients.
